Welcome to the Town of Mendon's, Highway Department.

The Highway Department exists to serve the needs of Mendon's residents and the needs of those who pass through our community.

We have developed this website in an effort to inform our residents about their Highway Department, the Highway Department's activities, and the Department's personnel.

Comments are always welcome.

Our mission at the Highway and Buildings & Grounds Departments is to provide the safest possible means of travel for the residents and visitors of the Town of Mendon. Additionally, we make every effort to secure the safe operating conditions of our Buildings and Grounds facilities and recreation equipment.

2-16-18  The skating rink is CLOSED.

9-20-16  The Tennis Courts at Semmel Road Park have been closed till further notice for repairs to the court surface.

5-29-13  The EMERALD ASH BORER is an invasive species that attacks ash trees by burrowing under the bark and laying its larvae.  Preventive measures are strictly regulated, expensive, and temporary.  Many web sites provide a wealth of information on the the borer, with the Cornell University Cooperative Extension hosting one.  If you have ash trees, or want further information, click here.

3-22-12  Monroe County has opened its ecopark to receive recyclables and hazardous materials.  For more information go to or call (585)753-7600 Option 3.

People often confuse the relationship of the

Town of Mendon and the Linear Trail that runs

through the Town of Mendon.

The Town of Mendon has several parks and these parks are supported by the tax base of the Town, and other fees.  The majority of the maintenance within these parks is conducted by Mendon's Highway Department.

The Linear Trail is a part of the Monroe County Parks system and is maintained by the Mendon Foundation, a private organization supported by donations and grants.

For Linear Trail concerns, contact:
